A Community Arts Center

Youth Programs

Playhouse Arts hosts a variety of Youth Programs that take place throughout the year at the Playhouse and at local schools including theater workshops, a teen program, artists in schools program and our family fun performance series

Wonder Wagon!

Playhouse Arts offers a mobile art service! The Wonder Wagon travels to local elementary school parking lots and community centers to deliver art packets with information about music, dance, and craft to hubs around Northern Humboldt.

Workshops

Playhouse Arts offers youth Spring and Summer workshops in creative theater-making with a variety of focuses including mask, puppetry, pageant performance, clowning, and more.

Family Fun Series Field Trips

Every Spring Playhouse Arts partners with the California Arts Council and the Humboldt County office of Education to provide low-cost field trips to international performances at our theater.

Skue-yech Son-ee-nah

Playhouse Arts and Yurok Wellness have combined efforts to offer a workshop for K-12 children across the county. Pairing Yurok storytelling with Shadow Puppetry, groups gather for ten, one hour classes with students: one opening class with a Yurok story teller introducing the story and the rest with Playhouse Teaching Artist directing the creation of the play.

Apprentice Entertainment

Playhouse Art’s teen program, Apprentice Entertainment, is a free teen after school program that meets once a week at the Playhouse.

Artists in Schools

Playhouse Arts partners with the California Arts Council and local schools to bring teaching-artist to K-6th classrooms in Blue Lake, Eureka, Arcata, Freshwater and Fieldbrook. Workshops include, mask-making, mask movement, shadow puppetry, clown and more.
