Learn to improvise in this crash course to Commedia! In eight installments over two weeks you will work on Commedia stock characters, developing modern ones, comic timing, mask crafts, and comic routines. Workshop dates and times are below. This course is all about learning to be comfortable to play, avoiding expectations, and celebrating human folly in a physical and funny way. At the end of the course there will be a public presentation for your family and friends; participation in this showing is optional.
If you’re inspired by what you learn in this course, you’ll have the opportunity to join the annual Holiday Show at the Arcata Playhouse! This workshop is taught by James Peck and Sarah Peters, who have taught at Dell’Arte International and learned Commedia from master teachers Joan Schirle, Giovanni Fusetti, and John Achorn.
If you’ve participated in a Playhouse Holiday show before, this course is only $35.
