Living in a box is hard. Abbey knows. She’s tried. But now, Abbey is  sick and tired of her box! It’s kept her locked up for 30 years, and  it’s ready to explode! Abbey Glover's debut solo show centers on a young  woman determined to break free from her box, be herself, and find love.

‘Full of charm and a delight to watch...Abbey is a kooky characterful narrator whose wry take on relationships wouldn’t be out of place in either a Greta Gerwig film or the Peanuts comic strip’ **** (The Scotsman).

Fresh off an OffFest-nominated run at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, Abbey's Box is 'an empowering hour...doused in light-hearted humor’ **** (EdFringeReview) that left critics ‘spellbound’ **** (Get Your Coats On) and ‘mesmerized’ ***** (Mumble Theatre.

'A playful, poetic and poignant solo show exploring relatable topics through a refreshing new lens’ **** (Broadway World) that is ‘just such a gem’ (Get Your Coats On).

Abbey Glover (writer & performer) is a San Francisco-based writer, storyteller, and solo performer. Her work is anchored in a desire to say the things that she thinks and feels but has been scared to say out loud for fear of shame, embarrassment, or rejection. Abbey’s Box is her first solo show, which she premiered at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland to critical acclaim, including receiving four stars from The Scotsman and Broadway World and an OffFest nomination.

Joyful Raven (director, co-developer) is an accomplished actor, director, and story midwife. Her most recent solo show Breed or Bust won the Producers Encore Award and was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Her previous show Tales of a Sexual Tomboy won Best of the Fringe at the San Francisco International Fringe Festival and had an Off-Broadway run. She has directed and mentored hundreds of storytellers, co-founded award-winning theater company Rococo Risqué, and co-authored 4 plays for Prize of Hope-winning company Human Nature. Joyful studied theater at Sarah Lawrence College in NY and holds an MFA in dramatic art from UC Davis. She holds regular storytelling and solo theater classes at the Berkeley Rep School of Theater and her own studio in Oakland, CA.

David Ford (co-developer) has been collaborating on new and unusual theater for three decades and has been associated with The Marsh for most of that time. The San Francisco press has variously called him the solo performer maven, the monologue maestro, and the dean of solo performance. Recent work includes Echo Brown's long-running Black Girls Are Not For Hipsters, Charlie Varon's extraordinary collaboration with cellist Joan Jeanrenaud Second Time Around (the latest in Charlie and David's twenty-five year partnership), Geoff Hoyle's Lear's Shadow and Geezer, all of Brian Copeland's solo shows including the longest running solo show in the Bay Area, “Not A Genuine Black Man”.
