The Big Read Kick-Off

Join us for the Big Read Kick-Off! Pick up a copy of the selected book: "You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World" edited and introduced by the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States, Ada Limón, featuring 50 poems from some of the nation’s most accomplished poets that engage with the forests, parks, valleys, waterways, canyons, mountains, backyards, scenic overlooks and built environments of their local landscapes.

Playhouse Arts, in partnership with the Humboldt County Library, is pleased to announce it has been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read to present a year-long community literature program in 2025–26. With this grant, Playhouse Arts will facilitate discussions, writing workshops, and performances to inspire dialogue around a shared literary work, as well as creative activities that explore our relationship with the physical environment.
