Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival presents Classical Music Concerts
More world-class musicians are coming to Trinity and Humboldt Counties this month, with a series of concerts presented by the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival.
Called “CLASSICAL MIXTAPES”, this series of shows will feature selections from some of the greatest hits across eras of music, including elegant classics by Mozart and Haydn, passionate romances by Amy Beach and Clara Schumann, heart-breaking elegies by Anton Arensky and Francis Poulenc, and the full dramatic force of the great Ludwig van Beethoven. The strings will also showcase John Mackey's piece Wrong Mountain Stomp, which takes a classical string trio and creates a wild-west atmosphere of old-time fiddle music and American folk dances.
The musicians will include festival director Ian Scarfe at the piano, joined by New York violinist James Keene, Florida violist Stephen Fine, and California cellist James Jaffe.
The concerts will be held at Weaverville's Performing Arts Center on Friday, July 19th, at the acoustically superb Morris Graves Museum in Eureka on the afternoon of Saturday, July 20th, and a cozy and intimate evening show at the Arcata Playhouse on Sunday, July 21st. The musicians will head to San Francisco on Friday, July 26th for a special performance at Monument SF, a converted warehouse space that is one of San Francisco's most unique venues.
All concerts are open to the public, and instead of set ticket prices, music lovers are invited to contribute on a sliding scale, “pay what you can” basis.
