Through traditional Yurok storytelling and shadow puppetry, teaching artists from Playhouse Arts and Yurok elders create a performance that integrates social emotional learning practices. This program highlights the importance of help-seeking behavior, and offers resources to at-risk youth through Social Emotional Learning, the Arts, and traditional Yurok storytelling. Students receive 10 consecutive days of instruction in puppet-building, culminating in a performance and a community feast. This project is in collaboration with the Yurok Wellness Coalition.
