The Women's Soapbox

There are all kinds of women here in Humboldt who have limited ways of communicating with the outside, but would welcome the opportunity. The women’s soapbox could be just that. In a safe, non-judgmental space, no matter what you are struggling with in your life, here’s your chance to script a rough draft, stand up (or stay seated) and speak your mind to a captive audience.

There will be a short thinking/writing session together with prompts to get the creative juices flowing, then begin the “get on the soapbox” and speak (optional) while everyone listens. Since the soapbox is not a contest of wills but a sharing of thoughts, sometimes new or raw, out of respect for the speakers, there will be no speaking or accolades (ie, no applause or cheers) during or after each turn. If you prefer to write into your own notebook or laptop, please do bring it, otherwise, paper…
